The Association of Lay Employees of the Vatican (ADLV) has asked Leo XIV to consider financial compensation for the losses incurred during the years when salary containment measures introduced during the pandemic were in effect. The workers believe that the recent repeal of the restrictions does not resolve the cumulative effects of the suspension of biennial seniority increments.
According to EWTN reported, the association, which claims to represent about 850 workers out of approximately 5,000 Vatican employees, made the request after Leo XIV repealed the motu proprio A Sustainable Future, promulgated by Francis in 2021.

The hypocrisy is that the Church is all for labor unions and just wages, but when it comes to their employees, that is a horse of a different color.

Cardinal Robert McElroy of Washington, writing at NcROnline.org on September 23, said that “during the past six months, we have witnessed a remarkable transformation in Catholic teaching on war.”

Spanish Conference Convenes Priests To Address Their Ministry In “A More Synodal Church”
The Spanish Episcopal Conference will bring the application of synodality to the concrete exercise of priestly ministry in a national gathering convened for next November 30 in Madrid. Under the title “Presbyters: Servants of Communion,” archpriests, episcopal vicars, and clergy delegates will reflect on the role of the priest within “a more synodal Church” and on the so-called “differentiated co-responsibility” among the various vocations.
The day is not intended to remain limited to those attending the meeting. As the official convocation of the Spanish Episcopal Conference explains, the work carried out in Madrid “will serve as a basis to encourage subsequent reflection with priests in the dioceses.”
