Swedish Christian couple Daniel and Bianca Samson have suffered another setback in their fight to bring their two daughters home: The European Court of Human Rights declined to hear their case, ruling it inadmissible. The couple has been separated from their children for over three years, since 2022. The case began after their eldest daughter made - and later retracted - a false abuse claim following an argument over not being allowed to use a phone and wear makeup. Prosecutors found no evidence of abuse, yet the children were still removed. Authorities later pointed to the family’s church attendance and parenting choices as signs of “religious extremism.” The daughters themselves have pleaded to be reunited with their parents.
