Cardinal Ruini's Testament: "Francis Reopened Wounds"

MessaInLatino.it published today the spiritual testament of Cardinal Camillo Ruini, signed on June 3, 2016. He died on June 16, 2026 at the age of 95.
Cardinal Ruini's testament is a personal reflection on his life, giving thanks to God for his family, vocation, and ministry in the Church.
More than 90% of the sentences are written in the first person singular, with verbs such as ringrazio ('I thank'), confesso ('I confess'), ho cercato ('I have tried'), and sono stato ('I have been') making Ruini the grammatical subject in nearly every sentence. The testament provides a detailed account of his family life, his work as a priest and bishop, his collaborations, and his public importance. A sympathetic reading of his frequent use of first-person pronouns (I, me, my, mine) might suggest that spiritual testaments traditionally belong to an autobiographical and introspective literary genre.
The paragraph that focuses least on himself is the best one, dealing with Pope Francis's pontificate: …Bontsi

Leo XIV Confirms November Return to Peru

Leo XIV intends to visit Peru during the first half of November, Peruvian President José María Balcázar announced following a private audience with the Pope.
Peru would be the centerpiece of a broader South American tour that may also include Argentina and Uruguay.
Although the Vatican has not yet published an official itinerary, Balcázar said Leo XIV personally confirmed that he plans to be in Peru in November.
The proposed itinerary would include Lima, Chiclayo, Piura, Pucallpa and Cusco, with additional visits to Puno and Iquitos also under consideration.
The visit could last between eight and ten days.
Balcázar said Peru has offered helicopters to assist the Pope in reaching remote towns in northern Peru and the Amazon region, reflecting his desire to visit as many local communities as possible.
Argentina, the homeland of Francis, was never visited by him during his thirteen years as pope. A visit by Leo XIV would mark the first papal trip to Argentina since 1987.

Argentine Bishops Thank God for the 'Courage' of an Abortion Activist

The Argentine Bishops' Conference issued a tribute to the abortion activist Taty Almeida, 95, following her death on June 14.
In a June 15 statement signed by Archbishop Marcelo Colombo, president of the conference, and Bishop Raúl Pizarro, secretary general, the bishops sarcastically praised Almeida's "historic commitment to human rights". They even “thanked God for sustaining her courage”.
Almeida was one of Argentina's best-known “human-rights” activists. She was a longtime member of the Mothers of Plaza de Mayo movement about people who disappeared during Argentina's military dictatorship.
The bishops' statement ignored her support for abortion.
Almeida publicly supported Argentina's abortion movement. She frequently appeared wearing the green scarf that became the symbol of the campaign for legal abortion and backed the effort that led to abortion legalization in 2020.
Almeida was closely associated with sectors of the Argentine caviar left and often appeared alongside progressive …Bontsi

Dartmoor potential pony cull prompts urgent call for livestock rule change

Natural England and MPs are urging the government to change its livestock rules to stop ponies on Dartmoor from potentially being culled.
Semi-wild ponies have roamed
Dartmoor for more than 4,000 years and have become uniquely suited to the boggy landscape, providing a charming sight for those who visit the national park.
There was therefore widespread outrage after reports that the government quango Natural England could cause a cull of up to 90% of the ponies, with the Conservative party calling for the government body to be reviewed and possibly stripped of its powers.
However, sources at the quango say it is the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs’ (Defra) policy that is at fault, as it fails to differentiate between sheep and ponies. Because the barren moors are so overgrazed, putting species including rare birds and butterflies at risk as there is no food or nesting sites for them, Natural England said there should be an aim to destock the moors by 76%.

State Infiltration of the Church in Vietnam

The report Freedom of Worship: A False Reality in Vietnam was released in June 2026 by the International Christian Concern (ICC). It shows efforts by Vietnam's Communist Party to influence the Catholic Church through indirect means.
ICC is a Washington, D.C.-based "non-denominational" human rights advocacy nonprofit founded in 1995 to document the persecution of Christians worldwide.
The report argues that the Catholic Church occupies a unique position among Vietnam's religious communities. Unlike most other recognized religious organizations, it is not directly integrated into a state-controlled structure.
Three Control Strategies
According to the report, the Communist Party employs three principal strategies to control religious communities, drawing on a 2023 analysis by the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF).
The first, substitution, involves outlawing historically independent religious organizations and replacing them with state-controlled alternatives, …Bontsi

"Bishops’ Consecration" at Papa Stronsay

Fr Michael Mary of the Transalpine Redemptorist group at Papa Stronsay, Scotland, will receive an unauthorized “episcopal consecration” on July 25. The community announced this on June 18 on the monastery's blog.
The candidate is the founder and superior of the group. He is rumoured to foster a personality cult around himself.
In 2025, the group rejected the post-Vatican II hierarchy and adopted a sedevacantist delusion.
The episcopal consecration is scheduled to be performed by Bishop Pierre Roy, a Canadian sedevacantist bishop. He will be assisted by Bishops Rodrigo Ribeiro da Silva of Brazil and Fernando Altamira of Argentina.
All three "bishops" had previous ties to the Priestly Fraternity of St. Pius X (FSSPX). Two were ordained priests within the Fraternity, while the third was ordained by Bishop Williamson.

Many expected that Iran would go the way of Iraq, Libya, and Syria upon the start of the Third Gulf War, which is why the outcome of this conflict can be described as the upset of the century. Iran didn’t destroy Israel like it’s long threatened to do, nor did it sink any US ships like its media surrogates hyped supporters up to expect, but both – and especially Israel – were left badly battered.
This is how Andrzej Korybko – an American political analyst living in Moscow who specialises in the global transition to a multipolar system – begins his Tuesday article on korybko.substack.com: Here’s How Iran Pulled Off The Upset Of The Century.
The five points outlined in this analysis provide an excellent summary of Iran’s astute military-political strategy. Yesterday, at the conclusion of the G7 summit in Evian, France, Trump told reporters: Our [oil] reserves will be depleted in about four weeks. I have described Iran’s strategy as “excellent …

Report: Leo XIV Considers Excommunicating All FSSPX Priests

Leo XIV is considering declaring all members of the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X (FSSPX) schismatics, TribuneChrétienne.com reported on 19 June, citing anonymous sources:
"According to several observers familiar with the matter, the document currently being prepared at the Vatican could go much further than some imagine. It would not merely acknowledge a rupture affecting the bishops or superiors of the FSSPX. The repercussions could extend to the entire structure, including its approximately 700 priests, seminaries, apostolates and the faithful who regularly attend its chapels around the world."
The bishops' ordinations are scheduled for 1 July, with Bishop Alfonso de Galarreta as the principal consecrator and Bishop Bernard Fellay as the co-consecrator.
For weeks, rumours about the excommunication of all members of the FSSPX have persisted on various Catholic news blogs and among journalists.

US Cardinal: Leo XIV Deepens Francis' Outreach to Homosexuals

The homosexual group Outreach, founded and led by the homosexual activist James Martin SJ, organises its annual conference on June 19-21 at the Jesuit-run Georgetown University. From 2021 to 2024, Francis sent an endorsement message.
In 2026, two US Cardinals support the homosexual conference. Outreach published endorsement letters by Cardinal Robert McElroy of Washington and Cardinal Blase Cupich of Chicago (below).
Cardinal McElroy wrote on June 19 that he is “delighted” to welcome the homosexual group in Washington, adding: “For I know that the Holy Spirit will be profoundly present in our meetings and discussions at this key time in the history of our Church and our nation.”
He wrote that the conference is taking place “at a moment when the pastoral foundations laid by Pope Francis for authentic ministry to and with the LGBT community are being deepened and refined by Pope Leo.”
Cardinal McElroy further stressed that the conference comes “directly after the release of Study …Bontsi

Here's what went wrong with the Jesuits - LifeSite

Fri Jun 19, 2026 - 2:29 pm EDTFri Jun 19, 2026 - 3:08 pm EDT
(
LifeSiteNews) — St. Ignatius of Loyola, whose feast day is celebrated on July 31, has been measured by the stature of the order of priests and brothers he founded in the sixteenth century—the Society of Jesus (the “Jesuits”). Unfortunately for the Society and the whole Church, that order is now in serious decline. In a 2022 memo to fellow cardinals just before he died, Cardinal George Pell suggested an official investigation:
Despite the dangerous decline in the West and the inherent fragility and instability in many places, serious consideration should be given to the feasibility of a visitation on the Jesuit Order. They are in a situation of catastrophic numerical decline from 36,000 members during the Council to less than 16,000 in 2017 (with probably 20-25% above 75 years of age). In some places, there is catastrophic moral decline. The order is highly centralized, susceptible to reform or damage from the top. The Jesuit …
