Chartres Organizer Hopes for Bishops' Goodwill Following FSSPX Consecrations

Following the FSSPX episcopal consecrations, Philippe Darantière hopes "for great goodwill toward us on the part of the bishops," he told OsvNews.com on July 7.
Since 2025, he has been president of the Notre-Dame de Chrétienté association, which organizes the annual Paris-to-Chartres pilgrimage, France.
For Darantière, contact between the faithful attached to the traditional Roman rite and the bishops of France is "still tentative." It varies depending on the diocese and the specific circumstances there.
"We do not communicate much with the bishops," he admitted. He also expressed his hope for "improvements in relations with the bishops, particularly in the summer, when there are many requests for weddings and baptisms in the traditional rite from the faithful who are attached to the traditional rite but who are far from their usual parish."
Darantière is supporting Pope Leo XIV's visit to France in September. The association Notre-Dame de Chrétienté is providing volunteers and encouraging …Ibindi

Italian Archbishop Proposes Women "Co-Preside" at the Novus Ordo

Worse than Germany: Archbishop Erio Castellucci of Modena-Nonantola has proposed a form of liturgical "co-presidency" in which women would lead the Liturgy of the Word while priests would preside over the Eucharistic consecration.
The proposal appears in a speech published on May 24 in the diocesan bulletin, delivered at a conference organized by the Centro Italiano Femminile in Carpi.
Monsignor Castellucci is the vice President of the Italian bishops and President of the National Committee for the Italian Synod.
He suggested that women could take responsibility for the first part of the Eucharist, proclaiming the Resurrection "as Mary Magdalene did to the apostles." This would sidestep "the impasse" over women's ordination while still respecting Church teaching that only a priest can consecrate.
Archbishop Castellucci also called for expanding shared governance in the Church, proposing that consultative councils' recommendations be made binding after a process of "consensus-building,"…Ibindi

Devastating Cuba: The American Empire is declining, and trying to drag everyone down with it

As Washington weakens, it is tightening the screws on Havana – using blockade, blackouts, and mass suffering to punish defiance Despite US attempts to sabotage and manipulate the event, the UN General Assembly has followed the request of the Cuban delegation to debate the “Necessity of ending the economic, commercial and financial embargo imposed by the United States of America against Cuba.” While this debate has been an annually recurring event since 1992, this year its backdrop is particularly grim, as Washington has greatly escalated its longstanding economic-warfare campaign against Havana. At the same time, the US has also threatened a military attack, which may or may not have been delayed by the American defeat in the war against Iran. But the Cuba debate at the UN also needs to be put in a much larger context: A quarter of a millennium after its founding and about four decades after the end of the last century’s Cold War in the late 1980s, the American empire is declining. …

FSSPX Confessions Valid - Cardinal Müller Doubles Down

On July 6, Cardinal Gerhard Müller told K-TV.org that FSSPX confessions are illicit but valid. Now he has repeated his disagreement with the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith. Its explanatory note from July 2 had claimed that confessions heard by FSSPX priests are "invalid."
"The note from the Dicastery, which appears only as explanatory notes, is unclear," Cardinal Müller told Andreas Wailzer on X.com on July 8.
He added: "The authority to forgive sins is conferred by Christ Himself in the sacrament of Holy Orders. It is not conferred by the Pope through his primacy of jurisdiction. Orthodox priests, too, validly grant absolution."
Müller continued: "The Pope can only prohibit the exercise of this authority. He can also reserve certain sins for his own absolution. One example is the sin against the unity of the Church, committed through an unauthorized episcopal consecration."

Turin Parish Holds Funeral for Muslim. Worse than Germany: On 3 July, the body of an Iranian Muslim was brought to Sant'Anna parish in Turin for a ceremony led by the parish priest, Don Valter Danna. The service included Christian prayers and the use of incense. Don Danna said it was not a Catholic funeral but rather a "prayer of farewell," explaining that the family had close ties to the parish. He confirmed that the ceremony was intentionally distinguished from a Catholic funeral.

Women Accuse Rabat Archbishop of Sexual Violence, Vatican Opens Inquiry

Marrakech – At least five women have accused Cristobal Lopez Romero, the Archbishop of Rabat, of sexual violence, prompting the Vatican to open a formal investigation into one of the Catholic Church’s most prominent cardinals. The 74-year-old Spanish clergyman announced on Tuesday that he would step back from all public duties while the inquiry proceeds. But he denied the allegations. The accusations came to light through an investigation by Agence France-Presse. AFP interviewed a retired woman active within the church who reported repeated sexual assaults but did not authorize the agency to disclose the details of her testimony at this stage. AFP also reviewed the written testimony of another woman, addressed to the apostolic nunciature – the Vatican’s embassy in the Moroccan capital. She accused the cardinal of “physical gestures” she “perceived as inappropriate,” including “particularly forceful and prolonged embraces” and an attempted physical advance she described as an effort to …

US Archbishop Calls Attending FSSPX Masses "Sinful"

Catholics may not knowingly take part in the liturgical celebrations, apostolates, or other activities of the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X, Archbishop Shawn McKnight of Kansas City, Kansas, wrote in a July 2 statement following the episcopal consecrations.
McKnight noted that the SSPX's ministry "is not legitimate in the life of the Church" and that "the sacraments of Penance and Matrimony administered by them are now invalid."
Participation in the worship of the "schismatic" community fosters separation from the Church's communion, he added: "Such participation is not merely discouraged but is gravely contrary to the unity of the Church and, when undertaken with full knowledge and deliberate consent, is sinful."

"FSSPX Confessions Are Valid" - Müller Contradicts Tucho: On July 6, K-TV asked Cardinal Gerhard Müller whether confessions heard by priests of the Priestly Society of Saint Pius X are valid or invalid. Contrary to Cardinal Tucho Fernández, he replied: "The confessions are valid, but illicit. The power to forgive or retain sins is conferred through the sacrament of Holy Orders. Its exercise can only be restricted by the bishop or the Pope, as provided by canon law."

We are warned against allowing false gods or priorities to take precedence over God, turning our hearts into a “house of iniquity.” We are encouraged to be apostles for Christ, living out our faith authentically and prioritizing God above all else.

Tibetan Rituals in a U.S. Church. Worse than Germany: On Monday, more than 60 Tibetans gathered at Most Holy Redeemer Church in Hadley, Massachusetts, to celebrate the Dalai Lama's 91st birthday and mark the conclusion of the "Year of Compassion," an initiative of the Central Tibetan Administration. The event opened with a ritual in which participants chanted "Om" three times and tossed tsampa (barley flour) into the air. Attendees also made mandala offerings by bowing and placing a white ceremonial scarf before a photo of the Dalai Lama. The celebration continued with speeches, traditional Tibetan songs and dances, and performances by students from a local Tibetan Sunday school.

Celebrating compassion, preserving culture

HADLEY — Arranged in a semicircle at the Most Holy Redeemer Church parking lot on Monday, Tibetans took a deep breath of juniper-scented air, raised the flour pinched between their fingers and let out their breath in a long, harmonious “om.” As soon as the third sacred chant ended, they tossed the barley flour, known as tsampa, into the air to create small clouds of joy. The ritual marked the beginning of western Massachusetts’ observance of the 14th Dalai Lama’s 91st birthday. More than 60 Tibetans gathered at the Regional Tibetan Association of Massachusetts event to enjoy Tibetan song and dance, connect over a meal and conclude the Year of Compassion — a call to action by Central Tibetan Administration encouraging acts of generosity and care around the world.
