The Superior General of the SSPX has defended the Society’s decision to consecrate bishops this summer, arguing that the “state of necessity” first invoked by Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre in 1988 is now “even more evident in 2026”. What do these scandals seek to achieve? To discredit the Church and assassinate souls. To cause more people to be lost—for when people witness the bad example set by their pastors, they use it to justify their own sins, and thus join in the rebellion against God.
