The Vatican will bar priests, religious and lay faithful participating in the annual Ad Petri Sedem pilgrimage from entering St. Peter’s Basilica on Saturday, Oct. 24, extending restrictions beyond the celebration of the traditional Latin Mass to the pilgrims’ customary gathering for prayer at the tomb of St. Peter.
The Summorum Pontificum pilgrimage will tomorrow be barred from entering St. Peter’s Basilica, said Christian Marquant, president of the French organization Paix Liturgique, at today’s event at the Augustinianum in Rome. He added that Pope Leo XIV had described last year’s Mass at St. Peter’s as “instrumentalized,” reports MessaInLatino.it. On October 23, gunmen attacked a Greek Orthodox church in Hammoud, near Karak, Jordan, opening fire on Christians attending a funeral. Initial reports indicate seven people were killed and 34 injured, some seriously. Jordanian authorities described the shooting as a terrorist attack. According to Roya News, preliminary assessments suggest the attackers were motivated by extremist Islamist (Takfiri) ideology. The gunmen fled the scene.

The cargo ship "Khoriv" came under attack while heading toward ports on the Danube. The Comoros-flagged cargo ship Khoriv has sunk 24 km off the Romanian port of Constanța. It was the 11th vessel hit by drones in the Black Sea recently, seven of them near Romania's coast. A search and rescue operation is currently underway in the area, involving one patrol ship and one boat, as well as the search and rescue vessel "Artemis". According to preliminary reports, of the 13 crew, 10 Ukrainians and 3 Azerbaijanis, Romanian units managed to rescue nine crew members, three more are being searched for, and one was killed in the strike. Russia's Defense Ministry said earlier it had struck a cargo ship being used to supply the AFU.

According to local Pinetown media, a private security firm was the first to respond (well after the three criminals were dead) to the scene and eventually local police showed up to take a report.
