Carmelite community of Campiégne martyrs to close: The historic Carmelite community of Compiègne, which is now based in Jonquières, France, is closing. The six remaining nuns have announced that they will be leaving due to the ageing nature of the community and a lack of new vocations. Founded in 1641, the community is best known for the sixteen Carmelite martyrs of Compiègne who were executed during the French Revolution in 1794 and canonised by Pope Francis in 2024. Footage released by the Israeli police shows a man attacking a French nun in broad daylight on Mount Zion in Jerusalem on Tuesday. On April 28, the German bishops published a new ‘Ratio Nationalis Institutionis Sacerdotalis’, a 203-page document reforming priestly formation in Germany.
